Julian looked at him for the first time.
“Ex-wife, apparently.”
The correction landed hard.
Then he said, “And it has everything to do with her.”
Richard stepped forward.
“Do not drag her into this.”
I nearly laughed at that.
After three years of using me as a punching bag for the family’s failures, now he wanted to protect me from being dragged in.
Julian’s eyes sharpened.
“You already dragged her in when you married your son to a woman you assumed knew nothing.”
Diane turned to me fully.
