The Midnight Caller

The Midnight Caller

It was a rainy night when Emma sat alone in her apartment, the soft hum of the city outside barely reaching her ears. The clock struck midnight, and a chill crawled down her spine. Suddenly, her phone buzzed.

A message appeared on the screen: “I see you.”

Heart racing, Emma looked around. Nobody was there. She tried to dismiss it as a prank, but then the message came again: “You can’t hide.”

Panicking, she ran to the door and locked it. The lights flickered, and a shadow moved across her living room. She held her breath, her mind spinning with questions she couldn’t answer.

Then, a whisper came from the phone speaker: “Turn around.”

With trembling hands, she slowly turned—and found nothing. But the sense of being watched didn’t leave. Emma realized this wasn’t just a random scare. Someone—or something—was inside her apartment, waiting.

Her phone buzzed again: “Look behind you.”
